This collaborative project funded by the Royal Irish Academy aims to improve our understanding of the relationship between prehistoric archaeology, landscape and seascape change on the Dingle Peninsula. Having pulled together existing archaeological and palaeoenvironmental data via a desktop study, in 2019 we conducted survey and targeted sampling of newly exposed intertidal deposits. These pages are still under construction, so more will follow, including laser scan data.
The team includes:
-
PI: Dr Laura Basell (University of Leicester): survey, stratigraphy
-
Co-I: Dr Ben Gearey (University of Cork): pollen
-
Dr Lorna O’Donnell (UCD): charcoal
-
Dr Tom Hill (NHM): diatoms
-
Dr Billie Mag Fhloinn (Sacred Heart University): Irish folklore and language; Chrono radiocarbon laboratory (QUB)
-
Rosie Everett (University of Warwick): sedDNA.

Outreach events were run in the summer of 2019.
